A long journey with cancer patients and his desire of giving back to the community where he was born and grew up, lead Dr. Sudhindra, an Oncologist from Vineland, NJ to create Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization in Karnataka, India. Poorna Sudha was started by a group of like-minded people based in US and as well as India, in 2011, working towards Early detection of breast and cervical cancer through awareness & education among women in Karnataka, India. In an attempt to create awareness about breast cancer and to provide affordable, people-friendly mammography facility, Poornasudha Cancer Foundation, launched Karnataka’s first mobile mammography screening bus, on Sept 16, 2013 in Bangalore India.
Dr. Ramakrishna R. Sudhindra, M.D. – Founder and Advisor
Ramakrishna R. Sudhindra, M.D. graduated from Bangalore Medical College, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Sudhindra is an attending Physician at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Copper. He was a partner in Southern Oncology Hematology Associates and has been practicing medical oncology since 1979. He is affiliated with many hospitals including Inspira Medical Center Elmer, Inspira Medical Center Vineland.
Dr. Sudhindra is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. Dr. Sudhindra has served as President of the medical staff at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland NJ, Chief of the Department of Medicine and Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee. He has served as the Director of South Jersey Hospice Care and Campus Vice-President of South Jersey Regional Medical Center. He also served as Chairman of the Cancer Committee. Dr. Sudhindra currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Inspira Foundation Board.
Mrs. Poornima Rao Sudhindra – Advisory Committee Member
Mrs. Poornima Sudhindra is the Management Trustee of the PoornaSudha Cancer Foundation.
As an accomplished professional with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Rowan University in New Jersey, Mrs. Sudhindra spent 15 years at Rohm & Haas (now Dow Chemical) as a Statistical Analyst.
However, a deep resolve to be involved in making the community a better place saw her involved in various Executive Committees devoted to community activities. She also spent time with the American Cancer Society as a patient navigator, which gave her an insight into the different stages of screening, detection, and treatment for the different types of cancer.
Ms. Seema D. Kumar – President & Treasurer.
Ms. Seema is an architect by profession with over 30 years of experience. Director of other companies, she has been part of Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation almost from its early stage of inception . Met with the founder trustees and within 30 mins she knew she wanted to be a part of the organization.
She now focuses on governance and accountability of the organization and tries to make a difference to the underprivileged cross-section of women.
Mrs. Pratima Shankar – Program Director
Pratima is a post graduate in Economics and holds a PGDM from Indian Institute of Science,Bangalore.Right from her younger days Pratima, has been passionate about Social causes and has devoted most of her time in the past contributing selflessly and meaningfully for a cause. She has been associated with PoornaSudha Cancer Foundation right from its inception. She has travelled through remote villages and conducted camps relentlessly and brought about Breast Cancer awareness to a large mass.
Dr Jayanthi Simon. MBBS. MD. FRC Pathology.
I am a graduate of Bangalore Medical College, India. I worked as a Consultant Pathologist in the National Health Service., UK during this period I was nominated to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathology. I also functioned as Head of Department and Clinical Director of Pathology services. During my long tenure as a Consultant Pathologist, I took a special interest in Breast Cancer which gave me a very good knowledge and experience of the Screening and Diagnostic Services required for Breast Cancer. I retired from the National Health Service in United Kingdom in 2013. From 2014 I have been working as a volunteer for Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation. I am a member of the dedicated team on the MOM Express providing screening mammography for early detection of breast cancer and also educating women to become breast aware.
Mrs. Poornima Harish – Mammography Technician
Mr. Shivraj Kumar-Logistics Support / Driver
A desire to provide safe transportation for school age childern led Shivraj to work two years as a school bus driver in previous position. Past 6 years I have been working for Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation. Taking the bus in small and narrow streets, finding tight spaces to park for screening is always a challenge. Shivu is responsible for getting the system running, making sure power connections are accurate and machines are fully operational before start of screening camp.
Mr. Shankar Narayan – Vice – President.
Graduated in 1974 from Bangalore University and completed his Post Graduation in Management in 1976. Previously Senior Vice President-SLK software services & Vice President (Process Outsourcing) at Ramtech Software Solutions. Currently CEO, Access Design Solutions Pvt Ltd. Bengaluru. He joined Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation board as a trustee in 2021.

Ms. Bindushree – Mammography Technician
Ms. Bindushree has been associated with the Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation for the past three years. She completed her B.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology from Rajiv Gandhi University, Bengaluru, followed by a one-year internship. She is proud to be a part of the Foundation and is a dedicated technician and contributes her skills and knowledge for the organization’s mission and growth.
Ms. Swathi G – Office Administrator.
Swati is a Graduate in commerce from Bangalore University . She completed her graduation in 2017 and immediately began her career as an Academic Counsellor at Book My Language. In 2023 she joined Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation as an Office Administrator. She is happy and proud to be part of the Foundation, contributing to its mission of supporting people and making a positive impact in the community.
Dr. B. S. Srinath
Dr. B. S. Srinath, known as Dr. BSS, is a surgical oncologist practicing in Bengaluru, India. He has over 40 years of experience in surgical oncology and oncological research. He is currently the Head of the Institution and Senior Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Bangalore.[1] He also serves as the Managing Trustee of Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, Bangalore.
Dr. L.S. Praveen
Dr. L.S. Praveen is one of the eminent radiologists in Karnataka, especially in ultrasound, with a long and distinguished career. He studied his MBBS in Bangalore Medical College and went on to do his DMRD from KMC Manipal and then his DNB from NIMHANS, Bangalore. He then joined Bangalore Hospital as Promoter Consultant and was solely responsible in building up their entire Radiology Department. During this time, he also served as visiting consultant at “Indira Gandhi Institute of child health”, Ravi Kirloskar Memorial Hospital, Ramakrishna Hospital, Deepak Nursing Home and JBS Nursing Home. He then went to become one of founding fathers of Clumax Diagnostics where he served as its Chairman and Managing Director, besides being the bed rock of its ultrasound department, taking it to great heights. His clinical skill and administrative acumen played an important role in crafting the Clumax success story.
Dr. Shekhar Patil
Dr Shekhar Patil has been practising medicine for 20 years, including over 15 years in the medical oncology spacialization. He started his career as a registrar in Medical Oncology at Bombay hospital in 1989. He went on to join the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, as a Senior Resident in Medical Oncology, in 1990. Currently, he is the Senior Consulting Medical Oncologist at HCG, since 1992.
Dr Patil treats 20-30 patients everyday, with conventional, high dose chemotherapy, for both solid and haematological malignancies.He has also participated in over 50 cancer detection camps in rural areas, since 1992, organized by Health Education Council, Bangalore Institute of Oncology (HCG) and various other non-government organizations, on a regular basis.
Mr. Raghu Bhargava
Raghavendra (Raghu), a graduate of IIM Bangalore, has over 28 years of experience in leadership roles and in managing businesses. He has worked with companies in India and the Middle East serving several industries. Raghu, while strategic, is execution focused and has the ability to create relevant, path-breaking vision, galvanize teams and convert strong missions into real performance. His greatest strength lies in dealing with industry fundamentals to drive value creating, turnaround change in short time frames. Raghu is capable of managing large teams and large businesses with deep technical expertise, and with the financial and people acumen to drive success.
